私の作品に現れる文様は、装飾ではなく痕跡です。
手で刻まれた線、縮れる釉薬、薪窯の灰が流れて残す筋、そして身体の動きによって垂らされた釉薬。
それらは、手、物質、火、身体が器の表面に残した出来事です。
私は器を飾るのではなく、表面に起きた力のふるまいを定着させたいと考えています。

The patterns on my works are not decorations, but traces.
Lines carved by hand, glaze that crawls and contracts, ash that melts and flows in the wood kiln, and glaze dripped through bodily movement.
These are events left on the surface by hand, material, fire, and body.
Rather than decorating vessels, I seek to fix these forces onto their surfaces.

うーたん・うしろ / U-Turn Ushiro

レスキュー隊員として消防署に勤務する中、陶芸に出会い作陶を始める。
2021年、栃木県益子町に自作の全地下式穴窯を築窯。
山で堀った土や石を使い、薪をくべて器を焼く。 
何かが燃える時の光や音、溶けて崩れる様子に注目し、陶芸作品の制作を中心に創作活動を展開。
舞踊、現代魔術をライフワークとし「踊る身体」と「作られるもの」の交点における在り方を実践・研究している。

U-Turn Ushiro first discovered the world of ceramics while working as a fireman in the special rescue unit in Chiba, Japan. 
In 2021, he built his own underground anagama kiln in Mashiko, Tochigi prefecture. 
Digging up clay, foraging rocks and wood from the mountain, firing vessels. 
Intrigued by the sounds and lights of something burning, how it melts and crumbles, he centers his creative practice around the production of ceramic works. 
He is passionate about dance and contemporary esoteric ocultism, and the research and practice of the intersection between a body that moves and what it can generate.
